As we reported back in August, Marina Director, Roberto Sponza, at Porto San Rocco, was investing heavily in marina improvements.
Two months on we can update you on the progression on the developments.
We referred to a reconfiugration of some of the pontoons. This will be completed in time for 2011, with 33 new berths from 10 to 12 m LOA. These changes have been made following high demand for vessels in this size range and approval by the Driectors for the 250.000 € to meet customer demand.
The pontoons are built by an Italian Company, Ingemar, who built all of the floating pontoons in Porto San Rocco since construction in 1998. The pontoons are custom made, with an iron structure that provides double the normal resistance, in order to deal with the conditions that occassionally hit Trieste from the Bora wind. Since opening in 1999, Porto San Rocco has suffered no damage due to bad weather.
A new wireless video system is in operation at Porto San Rocco to improve security and safety. Over 150.000 € has been invested in new technology including a thermal video camera controlling Porto San Rocco sea entrance, which is very useful during night. The new system means security and marina teams can now recognize boats approaching or leaving the marina easily and are able to provide better assistance if necessary.
There are also completely new car entrance controls, with two main gates controlled remotely by the customers electronic badges and video software that recognizes client’s car registration plates. The new system includes three inner gates to limit traffic inside the pedestrian area.
